Fail Proof Quick And Easy Surface Cleaning Routine

Take out the trash!

You should only deep clean once or twice a week. The rest of the days, surface clean. The first thing you want to do is grab a new trash bag, and walk through the rooms throwing away any trash. Pick up papers, fruit snacks wrappers, apple juice boxes, old mail, anything that needs to be gone. That step itself tends to make the house look better!

Locate those missing dishes

Then, do another walkthrough, this time looking for dishes. Your focus at this point is getting all dishes in the house into the sink. Then come back and rinse them, load them into the dishwasher, and get it running. Now that you’re in the kitchen, wipe down counters and stovetop, and do a quick sweep of the floor.

Sweep it all

If you have an open floor plan, go ahead and move into the dining room, and then the living room. Get it all taken care of at once so you aren’t wondering where you put the broom last.

On to the main areas

Move into the living room, moving any objects into their proper rooms. Put any miscellaneous clothes (why are there always clothes on my living room floor?) into the hamper, and fold the blankets kept on the couch. Fluff couch pillows at this step.

The big finale!

The hallway and entryway. Organize shoes and pick up anything on the floor. A quick vacuum through the living room and hall and all ‘visible’ areas of your house should be clean! Go ahead and pick up and sweep the bathroom floor. It’s worth it.

And that’s it! Picking up trash, then dishes, wiping counters, and doing the floors. My house appears clean, and I can relax for an extra day before I have to get the gloves and sponges out.

Which do you do more: surface clean, or deep clean? Let me know in the comments below!

Now go and squeeze the day!
